{"id":1189,"date":"2017-03-04T11:01:20","date_gmt":"2017-03-04T05:31:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pheonixsolutions.com\/blog\/?p=1189"},"modified":"2017-03-04T11:01:20","modified_gmt":"2017-03-04T05:31:20","slug":"device-eth0-not-seem-present-delaying-initialization","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pheonixsolutions.com\/blog\/device-eth0-not-seem-present-delaying-initialization\/","title":{"rendered":"Device eth0 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Date Posted:03\/03\/2017<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One of our VM didnt come up and we tried to restart network service and we get the following below error.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Device eth0 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Normally, this error occurs when there is a mismatch of<em> mac address<\/em> in the network configuration file or we might have changed the network adapter on the VM.<\/p>\n<h5>Resolution:<\/h5>\n<p>To fix the issue, we need to delete the file<em>\u00a0\/etc\/udev\/rules.d\/70-persistent-net.rules.<\/em><\/p>\n<pre class=\"EnlighterJSRAW\" data-enlighter-language=\"shell\">rm \/etc\/udev\/rules.d\/70-persistent-net.rules<\/pre>\n<p>Additionally, we need to remove the <strong>mac address<\/strong> and <strong>UUID<\/strong> on the file\u00a0<em>\/etc\/sysconfig\/network-scripts\/ifcfg-eth0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><code>vi \/etc\/sysconfig\/network-scripts\/ifcfg-eth0<\/code><\/p>\n<p>Finally, reboot the machine.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"EnlighterJSRAW\" data-enlighter-language=\"shell\">reboot<\/pre>\n<p>Now, the network will come up automatically.
