EFS is a aws service which is similar to NFS service where we can add a single disk across multiple servers. The advantage of using EFS is we dont have to worry about data storage.<\/p>\n

Limitation:<\/h4>\n
    \n
  1. EFS has a limited to few regions as of now and it doesn’t support it all regions.<\/li>\n
  2. An EFS volume can be used within the region and the volume cannot be mounted to other regions.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    EFS Creation:<\/h4>\n

    Logon to Amazon Management Console<\/p>\n

    Click on\u00a0Create File System<\/em><\/p>\n

    Select\u00a0VPC,\u00a0<\/em>under\u00a0Create mount targets, select availability zones\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0security groups\u00a0<\/strong>as\u00a0default.<\/em><\/p>\n

    Mention the\u00a0Name\u00a0<\/em>of the key and select\u00a0Choose performance mode\u00a0<\/em>as\u00a0General Purpose<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

    We will get\u00a0DNS name\u00a0<\/em>for the EFS volume<\/p>\n

    Mounting EFS volume to Instance\/server:<\/h4>\n

    If we followed the steps properly,\u00a0default\u00a0<\/em>security group would be selected. Let’s install nfs utility on the host.<\/p>\n

    For Ubuntu,<\/p>\n

    apt-get install nfs-common<\/code><\/p>\n

    For Centos,<\/p>\n

    <\/code>yum install -y nfs-utils<\/code><\/strong><\/p>\n

    Create a directory or mount to an existing partition. In our example, we are going to mount the partition to\u00a0\/var\/www\/html<\/em><\/p>\n

    mount -t nfs4 -o nfsvers=4.1,rsize=1048576,wsize=1048576,hard,timeo=600,retrans=2 EFS-DNSNAME:\/\u00a0\/var\/www\/html<\/code><\/p>\n

    Add the permanent entry on \/etc\/fstab<\/em><\/p>\n

    vi \/etc\/fstab<\/code><\/p>\n

    DNSNAME-:\/ \/var\/www\/html nfs4 nfsvers=4.1,rsize=1048576,wsize=1048576,hard,timeo=600,retrans=2 0 0<\/pre>\n
    Replace DNSNAME with EFS endpoint.<\/p>\n
