Scrumblr is a simple web-based simulation of a physical agile kanban board(or say a white board) that supports real-time collaboration with other teammates. It is built using node.js, websockets (using socket.io), CSS3, and jquery. The installation of Scrumblr is quite simple and straight forward. Hope this post helps.<\/p>\n

Steps:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1) Install Redis and NodeJS<\/p>\n

sudo apt-get install redis-server nodejs\r\n<\/pre>\n
2) Install npm<\/p>\n
sudo apt-get install npm\r\n<\/pre>\n
3) Install GIT<\/p>\n
sudo apt-get install git-core\r\n<\/pre>\n
4) Clone Git repo of scrumblr:<\/p>\n
4.1) cd \/opt\r\n4.2) git clone https:\/\/github.com\/aliasaria\/scrumblr.git\r\n4.3) cd scrumblr\r\n4.4) npm install\r\n<\/pre>\n
5) Add a simple bash script “scrumblr_startup.sh”<\/strong> to start the Scrumblr process on startup.

#!\/bin\/bash\r\n#Script to manage Scrumblr service\r\n\r\nNODEJS=`which nodejs`\r\nTIMESTAMP=`date +\"%d-%m-%Y-%T\"`\r\n\r\nps=`ps aux | grep scrumblr | grep -v grep`\r\nif [[ ps == 0 ]]; then\r\necho \"$TIMESTAMP - Scrumblr process found. Not starting.\"\r\nelse\r\necho \"$TIMESTAMP - Scrumblr process not running. Starting up in background.\"\r\ncd \/opt\/scrumblr\/ && $NODEJS \/opt\/scrumblr\/server.js --port 80 &\r\nfi\r\n<\/pre>\n
6) Add a line in “\/etc\/rc.local” just under “By default this script does nothing”:<\/p>\n
bash \/opt\/scrumblr\/scrumblr_startup.sh >> \/var\/log\/scrumblr.log 2>&1\r\n<\/pre>\n
7) Start Scrumblr service<\/p>\n
bash \/opt\/scrumblr\/scrumblr_startup.sh\r\n<\/pre>\n
8) Take it to the browser: http:\/\/<IP address of the server>\/<\/p>\n
