This article aims to assist you with manually restoring a JetBackup generated backup. This process would be useful if you need to move your accounts to a different server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Procedure<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The following JetBackup documentations details this process step-by-step:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This guide will go over how to manually restore a cPanel account from your JetBackup generated backups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1.<\/strong> First, you need to access your backup destination and download the backup snap folder to your cPanel server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\/path\/to\/backup_folder\/jetbackup_1_1_{UNIQE_JOB_ID}\/{USERNAME}\/snap.2015-10-29.031006\n\n<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
Note that “snap”<\/strong> folders are the actual backups and the backup date is indicated at the folder name. To make sure you are in the right folder, verify that it contains the folders “homedir” & “mysql”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Once you have your snap folder downloaded, Proceed to login to your cPanel server terminal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If Compress databases on the backup process<\/a> is enabled, make sure to uncompress the database(s) in the backup folder before proceeding to the next step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
cd {SNAP_FOLDER_PATH}\/mysql\ngzip -d {DATABASE_NAME}.sql.gz\n<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
2.<\/strong> Next you will need to create a tar archive file of your backup content with the cpmove filename format and make sure to adjust the filename with the correct “USERNAME”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
tar -czvf ~\/cpmove-{USERNAME}.tar.gz .<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
3.<\/strong> Copy the tar file to your cPanel server home directory then navigate to the home folder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
cd \/home<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
4.<\/strong> Restore the backup using cPanel’s script.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\/scripts\/restorepkg cpmove-{USERNAME}.tar.gz<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
