Introduction
A web Disk account is used to upload, Download and navigate the files from the web server. By default, the system creates a Web Disk account for the cPanel account and sets the home directory as the Web Disk location. This account uses the same login information as same as cPanel account and can access all of the files in the home directory. The default Web Disk account can’t be deleted
Prerequisite
- Credential of cPanel account
Implementation
Step 1: Log in to your cPanel
Step 2: Click Web Disk under the File section
Step 3:Under “Create an Additional Web Disk Account”, provide the details of the new account and click on Create.
(i) Username
(ii) Password – Enter the new password or click the Password Generator button to generate a random password.
(iii) Directory – leave it blank but it will grant access to the entire directory. If we want to allow access to only a specific folder, enter the folder location, such as public_html/example
Note: the user will only be able to access /example
(iv) Permissions: Select the options as per the requirement
Note: For the Windows OS, we need to mark “Enable Digest Authentication”. However, if the server has an SSL certificate signed by a recognized certificate authority and you are able to make an SSL connection over port 2078, you do not need to enable this
Step 4: We can use the new login details to access the Web Disk
